Freeing Lives Filled With Pain, (Thailand)
A world of darkness and pain threatened to steal Khun Poedae’s beautiful
life as a wife and mother. The herpes infection had already robbed the sight of
one of her eyes. Like many people living in one of Thailand’s remote and mountainous
regions, she could not afford to travel to the nearest hospital and pay for treatment.
She had tried everything else she could think of including praying to spirits. What
would happen to this 31-year-old woman, her children and her husband?
Saving A Mother’s Sight
Operation Blessing’s Thailand outreach center, its' staff and volunteers
have a heart for their hurting neighbors. Their neighbors include those in rural
Omkoi, Khun Poedae’s home. In 2002, a group of volunteer medical professionals
conducted a medical mission in Omkoi. KhunPoedae came in so much pain that the
entire team was moved with compassion. Not only was she given antibiotics and
pain medication, but arrangements for free surgery were also made!
After being transported to a nearby hospital in Chiangmai, surgeons removed the
woman’s infected eye and saved the other eye. A short time later OBI brought
her back to Chiangmai for a checkup and to receive a prosthetic eye. She is now
free from pain and the new eye looks very natural. She shared, "Today I have
a new eye and even though it is not a real eye, I am very happy. I am thankful
to God and to all the Operation Blessing staff who have been so helpful to me!"
Thank you for helping us answer the painful cries of precious people like Khun
Poedae! Countless children and their families still live in poverty and pain around
the world.
Help
break the cycle of suffering!
