Lion,
elephant, zebra and giraffe graze South Africa's grassy plateaus. But
not all is tranquil within the cities and rural villages. HIV/AIDS and
unemployment run wild. A mother of four named Goodness wonders how her
family will survive. Her husband can not find a job. And there are unending
reports of neighbors or friends who have contracted HIV/AIDS.
Operation Blessing sponsored programs are helping people achieve self
sufficiency and healthier lifestyles through:
- Tending The Sick -- We have responded to this country's
desperate cry in a time when better medical care and education are essential
for the population to survive.
a. AIDS Education: Students participating in the 3-day seminars live
in a society where at least 25% of the population has HIV/AIDS. Each
person learns what behaviors spread HIV/AIDS, what treatment is available
when contracting it, and how to pass on the truth of the pandemic.
b. Medical Missions: Mobile clinics are conducted in squatter camps
throughout the country. Hundreds of patients receive free check-ups
and HIV/AIDS education information during each mission.
- Equipping for Life -- We not only help people in
times of crisis, but also assist them in overcoming forces that keep
them in the vicious cycle of poverty.
a. Bless-A-Child: We assist poor children and their parents by supporting
day care centers, serving nutritious meals as well as providing medical
attention, clothing and early childhood education.
b. Living Waters: Many poor South Africans living in crowded townships
or dry rural villages do not have access to clean water. Through the
Living Water program, individuals can go to a newly dug well when they
need water for cooking, drinking and cleaning instead of having to depend
on the rain or other sources which are likely contaminated.
c. Poverty Alleviation Centers: Our team equips and teaches unemployed
adults in becoming marketable and beginning business ventures of their
own. This includes placing dozens of sewing training centers throughout
South Africa and in Swaziland.
Join us in breaking the cycle of suffering around the world. Please
give a gift today!

The Mathenjwa and Mthembu families are a part of the Zulu people. They live
in South Africa's Ubombo region in northern Kwa-Zulu Natal. Each kraal or family
unit is made up of about seven members. Surrounded by communal farm land, rolling
sand dunes isolate them from other families. Filthy pit wells in random locations
are their only sources of water. |
