Filling America’s Empty Cupboards
Four
years ago Kate’s husband abandoned her and their four young boys.
Forced to be the sole provider, Kate knew working a low paying job was a
short term solution for a long term problem. She decided to work part time
and pursue a Ph.D. in hopes of some day teaching at the college level. However,
living below the poverty line was a daily challenge. Even with her mother’s
sacrificial help, Kate couldn’t adequately feed her growing sons.
Only a few months ago one of Kate’s friends told her about the
New Creations food pantry. Located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, this Operation
Blessing partner holds food distributions for hungry families and individuals
twice a month and gives food to 76 other area agencies. “I took
the leap of faith and swallowed my pride and boy, what can I say, I was
treated like a queen,” expressed Kate. “I will always remember
unloading the first load of groceries into my empty cupboards; I felt
so rich. I was able to give my boys snacks in the middle of the day. I
was able to feed my family.”
Determined to succeed, this single mother plans on graduating in four
years. Meanwhile, she is so grateful to Operation Blessing and New Creations.
“We call New Creations the ‘food fairy’ because it seems
like magic every time I bring home another load of food,” she commented.
“I will never be able to repay directly for the gifts that have
been given to my family, but I hope that my family and I will reach out
to others the way we were reached out to.”
We Feed the Hungry Every Day
Operation Blessing feeds hungry children and their families every day!
Today our fleet of Hunger Strike Force trucks is delivering thousands
of pounds of food around the USA. Ministry partners give the groceries
to the homeless, single parents, elderly, handicapped and working poor.
Today impoverished children in countries including Guatemala and the Philippines
are eating balanced meals in school lunch programs sponsored by Operation
Blessing.
Fill an empty cupboard! Without your help hunger will continue
to rise in the United States and around the world.
- Your gift of $50 can supplement a month’s worth of food on
the table of two impoverished American families.
- $100 can give a child who lives in a drought-ridden country like South
Africa, healthy meals and vitamins for three months!
- $500 can feed hundreds of senior citizens nutritious meals for one
week at a Romanian soup kitchen!
