Filipino Typhoon Victims Receive Assistance
4
typhoons hit the Philippines in 2 weeks
"On November 24 and 27, a team from Operation Blessing went to the Camarines Sur
after typhoon Unding left. We were able to provide relief to over 5,000 people. A medical
mission also happened simultaneously while the relief operations we're undergoing, ensuring
a holistic approach. OBI also helped 162 families in the reconstruction of their homes
by providing roofing materials. This will ensure that they have a dry place to lay their
heads at night.
"Early this week, after Typhoon Winnie stormed through Central Luzon, Operation
Blessing staff and volunteers rushed to provide help for those hit by the sudden flash
floods. Through that effort 301 families were given goods that we hoped would allow
them to make ends meet as Typhoon Yoyong made landfall.
"Although flood waters are receding after typhoon Yoyong thousands of people
remain cut off from help and food. Many families are suffering from hunger, lack of
shelter and are at high risk of disease after a week of severe flooding. This is why
I'm writing to you today, not just to provide you with an update, but also to seek again
your support.
"Yoyong left 35 people dead when the killer typhoon battered the country. This
added to a toll of more than 1,000 dead or missing after floods and landslides this
week, disaster officials said.' We need one great heave to deliver the relief supplies,
find the missing, rescue the isolated, feed the hungry and shelter the homeless,' President
Gloria Macapagal Arroyo said in a statement on national television.
"Your support is critical if we are going to meet the incredible needs of typhoon
survivors. Please help today, lives depend on quick help.
"I pray that God will touch your heart in this hour of great need. May God bless
you richly"
Blessings,
Kim Pascual, M.D.
