A Safe Haven For At-risk Preschoolers

Clearwater, Florida -- Chubby fingers covered with brightly colored hand paint concentrated on the project at hand. Little feet curiously sought out the new jungle gym. Bubbles of young laughter filled the Lamb's Corner Preschool. Located in a low-income area, the preschool's staff of eight is dedicated to provide at-risk toddlers with quality Christian education in a loving and caring environment. See how Operation Blessing's Bless-A-Child program was able to help!

An average of 33 active children ages 1 to 5 attend Lamb's Corner Preschool each month. Some of their parents are serving time in prison. Others live in single parent homes. A few stay with grandparents. Then there are those who are in the Protective Services System of Florida (PSSF). Director Teresa Hamm knows all of their stories. She comments, "With the upheaval and uncertainty in the homes of many of our children, we are providing them love, nurture and preschool experience to build a solid base for their young lives. The children can maintain a stable setting here when other areas of their lives are unstable."

Lamb's Corner Preschool is a non-profit organization. Half of its young students attend through Coordinated Child Care. This means the government and various agencies help to provide discounted tuition rates for qualified children including those in PSSF and with teen parents. Lamb's Corner also offers children under the PSSF additional services including food, counseling and extended payment plans.

Seeing the preschool's heart, Operation Blessing was able to help out with a little fun, education and nutrition. For example, a new Play Geo Climber, teeter-totter and assorted balls now fill parts of the playground's landscape. Craft items including art sets, paint, and construction paper encourages the youngster's creative juices. Curriculum for all ages challenges their minds. Supplies of nutritional snacks and juice drinks were also added to its inventory.

"We are so very thankful for the Bless-A-Child program," expresses Teresa. "We've reached out to children and families in our community in immeasurable ways and improved our facility and environment as we provide love and care to our special children."

Operation Blessing partners, thank you for helping us invest in these precious children! There are still countless more children in the United States and around the world in need of a safe haven. Please generously invest in their future today!
