First Catch in Sri Lanka
March 7th - This morning each of the fishing boats Operation Blessing had a hand in building in Sri Lanka, brought in 150kg of fish. Books were also distributed to school children. It is a joy to see the fishermen earning an income for their families.
Indonesian Mother Seeks Medical Care
This young mother brought her two small children to OB's medical clinic in a remote region of Indonesia. Medical teams with OBI have treated thousands of children like these throughout the tsunami effected areas.
Stark Reality
On the outskirts of Bande Aceh, Indonesia, bodies are added to mass grave sites daily, as teams continue to uncover tsunami victims amid the hundreds of miles of fragmented debris.
Rural Communication
Signs like these are posted throughout Indonesia, indicating gathering points for tsunami local survivors. It is the only means many community members have for reuniting after their neighborhoods were swept apart .
Tent Cities Home to Survivors
Sunny days are rare during Indonesia’s rainy season, so residents at the refugee camp in Lhoong use the opportunity to dry their clothes after washing them in a nearby river. Dozens of donated tents like these have become “home” for survivors from the surrounding areas.
Cut Off Communities Receive Help
This mother in the village of Lhoong beams with gratitude when teams arrive from OB Indonesia to provide medical care and emergency supplies. She and her daughter are among the hundreds of refugees who have been struggling to cope since their community was cut off by the tsunami’s destruction.

Returning Home
These brothers returned to their home on Meulaboh, Indonesia’s peninsula to search for anything salvageable after the devastating tsunami. They left only with bags of aluminum.


Surviving on Fish
At a tsunami refugee camp, residents had little more than these rotten fish to eat before OB Indonesia delivered family-sized boxes of food and other stable supplies.



Filthy Hands of Help
After spending almost an entire day digging through rubble and debris in downtown Meulaboh, this young man’s hands were stained black from the thick layer dust and dirt.



Rescued Mother & Baby
When the crushing waters rushed ashore, this mother clutched her baby tightly, but she and the child both slipped underwater for more than a minute. Once they were rescued, she turned the child upside down and black water gushed from the baby’s mouth. Miraculously, the mother says her little girl seems perfectly normal.



Blind Man Escapes Waves
This sixty-two-year-old man suffers from catarcts, but with the help of his family he excaped the tsunami.



Nothing to Cook With
Wives and mothers scrounging around looking to build make-shift stoves first need basic food and something to cook the meal in. OB India is supplying thousands of tsunami survivors food and cooking utensils.

Dealing with unexplainable grief and loss, these men and women stand in line to receive medical care, food and supplies from OBI India.



Torn Memories

This sand-spattered picture tells of a happier time for this little Indian girl's family. We don't know if she was one of the Tsunami's victims or survivors.
