"Quadruple" blessings: Family with four sons receives aid

Posted: Sept. 27, 2007
By: Staci Dennis

The Yager family had quadruplets in Feb. 2005. Since then, Operation Blessing has helped supply the family with diapers and wipes.

LYNNVILLE, Ind. – For the Yager family, everything comes in sets of four.

There are four sets of socks, four tooth brushes, four smiling faces and four babies to hug. Take their quadruplets and multiply them by several diaper changes a day and that can equal thousands of diapers a year.

"Four babies can easily go through 32 diapers a day," said their dad, Jody Yager.

Thanks to Operation Blessing and Bread of Life Ministries, the Yager family has been fully stocked with diapers and wipes since the birth of their children on Feb. 16, 2005.

"This provided such a large financial relief for us," Kathy Yager said. "We have been stocked with diapers and baby wipes since the boys came home from the hospital."

Bill Carlisle, also known as "Father Abraham," runs Bread of Life Ministries, where the Yager's come for diaper assistance.

Kathy quit her job as a third grade teacher to stay home with her children. The couple said the financial strain of losing one income and incorporating four children was a big adjustment.

"We are so blessed to have four healthy baby boys, helpful friends and family and a tremendous supply of diapers and baby wipes," Jody added.

The Hunger Strike Force has been delivering monthly truckloads of food and other products, including diapers, to Bread of Life since 2003.

Bread of Life Ministries began their outreach in 1973 after Bill Carlisle asked his supervisor at JC Penny's if he could distribute discarded items from the store. The outreach started by helping 10 people.

Today, more than 40,000 families have been served through 125 agencies partnering with Bread of Life.

In addition to the Yagers, Carlisle is also supplying diapers and wipes to other families with multiples – earning him the title of "Father Abraham" among his peers.

Rob and Emily Wright in Princeton, Indiana, have quintuplets and another couple just called to tell Carlisle a set of quadruplets are on the way.

"Thank you to the donors who make these diapers and other products available," said Angela Holley, a mother of triplets, who was spending $100 a month on diapers alone. "Without that help, we just couldn't make it."
