KALIBO, Philippines - Rudy and Elaine saw everything they had worked for destroyed in a matter of minutes.
Husband and wife sat helplessly as the roof of their home was ripped off by the 195-mile-per-hour winds of Typhoon Frank last month. When the storm lifted, their bread store was gone, their home was destroyed and all they were left with was rubble.
"The devastation was widespread," said Kim Pascual, executive vice president and chief operating officer with OB Philippines. "No one was spared, rich or poor."
In its trail of destruction, the typhoon destroyed homes and businesses. More than 600 people died as a result of the storm.
OB Philippines responded immediately by providing emergency food and relief to the hardest hit area, Iloilo. When OB Philippines disaster relief crews met Rudy and Elaine, they provided the family with candles, a gas lamp and other relief supplies to help hold them over until more aid arrived.

"Electricity and water was still not available a week after the storm," Pascual said. "People have been enduring continuous mudflows when it rains, and dust when the sun shines."
Stomach problems and respiratory diseases are widespread due to the unsanitary conditions.
Businesses that survived the storm are also making matters worse by charging an exorbitant amount for the little food that is left, Pascual said.
