When disaster strikes, providing victims with access to clean drinking water becomes critical. Late last year, Operation Blessing purchased water purification systems for flood victims in Mexico and typhoon-devastated communities in Bangladesh. As a partner with Operation Blessing, DHL flew the systems in pro bono and OBI trained local church volunteers how to operate and maintain the 1,600-pound systems, with each one purifying up to 10,000 gallons of water a day and supplying thousands with clean water. When the need for disaster relief ends, the purification systems are permanently positioned in villages lacking potable water. A gift of $7,500 will purchase one system.
