DIRECTOR, INTERNATIONAL DISASTER RELIEF
Kumar Periasamy serves as the Director of International Disaster Relief at Operation Blessing International. Kumar first joined OBI’s Outreach Division in 1998 where he served as a regional manager, and then in 2000 transitioned to CBN WorldReach as Deputy Director for Asia Operations. He moved to Hyderabad, India, in 2002 with his wife Smita to assume the additional responsibility of being the regional country director of India for WorldReach and Operation Blessing where he coordinated efforts that benefited an average of 30,000 people each month with fresh water, medical treatment and disaster relief.
Kumar has participated in a number of critical OBI disaster relief operations, particularly in Afghanistan and Iraq (war relief), as well as helped coordinate teams from OBI India to help survivors of the Southeast Asia tsunamis both on India’s coast and in Sri Lanka. He relocated to international headquarters in Virginia USA during 2007 to head up OBI’s response to disasters worldwide.
Kumar was born and raised in Singapore, graduated from Regent University with a Masters in Business, and has been married to his wife Smita for more than 21 years. They have a 2-year-old daughter named Manisha. |
