Web Designer

Operation Blessing International (OBI) is a humanitarian development and relief organization that has touched the lives of more than 179.7 million people in over 96 countries and all 50 states.  We are committed to providing short-term relief and development assistance to economically disadvantaged people and victims of disaster throughout the world.  Our websites help us communicate our mission, tell stories of hope and help, and reach out to those who desire to partner with us.

Operation Blessing International has an immediate opening for a Web Designer, headquartered in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  This skilled professional will be responsible for daily creative design, programming, and layout production for the look, content posting, and on-line promotion of Operation Blessing websites in order to advance OBI's online presence.  They will also be involved with conceptualization, creation and implementation of creative design for OBI's online social marketing sites.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Solid working knowledge of Internet development and design
  • Working experience with Visual Source Safe, Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash and other Internet production tools
  • Working knowledge of ASP, HTML, XML, Visual Basic or Java desirable
  • Ability to use good design practices, modeling and system documentation
  • Knowledge of e-marketing, e-commerce and on-line fundraising practices and procedures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn new methods and technologies, and implement them
  • Ability to deal with deadlines and pressure
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Executive Director of Development - Virginia Beach, VA

Operation Blessing International is seeking an entrepreneurial rainmaker to serve in the critical role of Executive Director of Development.  This new position will establish and implement an innovative plan to strengthen and expand the organization’s development strategies.  This highly motivated and accomplished professional will work in concert with the President and collaborate with the executive management team involved in various aspects of the fundraising and development efforts.

The Executive Director will provide leadership and management for the direction, planning and execution of development related activities to include setting and achieving specific fundraising designed to advance OBI’s mission and programs.  This individual will give structure and strategic thought to the development effort, creating a significant impact on OBI’s success in achieving its annual and long-term revenue goals.  Responsibilities will include: driving growth in the prospective donor pool and designing initiatives to increase awareness, interest and involvement of prospective donors; ensuring sufficient levels of cultivation and solicitation activity to result in achievement of dollar goals; and assume responsibility for development reports presented to the Board.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree or professional certification preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years related work experience in development; experience as a chief development officer preferred
  • Proven fundraising track record of achieving revenue targets and securing major gifts
  • Proven results-driven management and strategic leadership capabilities
  • Experience working with Senior Level executives in a corporate environment
  • Advanced skills in project management, budget development and fiscal accountability
  • Strong ability to write and speak persuasively about OBI and its programs; articulating passion and purpose for its mission
  • Ability to strengthen OBI presence and raise awareness through networking, planning and execution of fundraising strategies

Deputy Director – Haiti

Operation Blessing International is seeking an experienced field worker to serve as Deputy Director in Port Au Prince, Haiti. This new position will work closely with the International Director for Disaster Relief in coordinating, implementing and managing effective disaster relief and recovery programs in response to the Haiti earthquake of January 2010.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Strong field experience providing disaster relief in a de-stabilized and hazardous environment preferred
  • Willingness to relocate to Port-au-Prince, Haiti
  • Strong knowledge of humanitarian relief field work with understanding of construction and building projects. 
  • Knowledge of disaster relief and recovery operations.
  • Working knowledge of cross-cultural environments and customs or international business.
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to plan, lead and follow through on complex projects
  • Excellent leadership skills with ability to lead, manage and direct a team
  • Diverse and complex problem solving skills
  • Ability to take initiative, be innovative, work independently, and function as a team player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (French skills a plus)
  • Computer proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Word, familiar with MS Excel.

  • Ability to travel internationally, if needed.


Office Manager – Haiti

Operation Blessing International is seeking an experienced field worker to serve as Office Manager in Port Au Prince, Haiti. This new position will assist the International Director for Disaster Relief in managing, organizing and coordinating all administrative matters of the Haiti earthquake disaster response office, as well as facilitate communications with Operation Blessing Headquarters in Virginia Beach, VA.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Strong administrative field experience providing disaster relief in a de-stabilized and hazardous environment preferred.
  • Willingness to relocate to Port-au-Prince, Haiti
  • Working knowledge of cross-cultural environments and customs or international business.
  • Knowledge of office management practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Working knowledge of purchase requisition systems
  • Knowledge of humanitarian relief field work providing disaster relief and recovery operations.
  • Excellent administrative support skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (French skills a plus)
  • Computer proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Word, familiar with MS Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work independently with minimal supervision

Construction Foreman & Fleet Maintenance Supervisor - Ocala, FL

Operation Blessing International, OBI, a faith-based humanitarian relief and development organization has an immediate opening for a Construction Foreman & Fleet Maintenance Supervisor. The qualified candidate will oversee and maintain all disaster relief vehicles and equipment to ensure dependability and readiness during times of domestic natural disasters. Will also oversee volunteer teams during times of disasters including clean-up, re-construction and deployment.

Qualifications:

  • Skilled in mechanical and hydraulic maintenance and repair
  • Knowledgeable of the U.S. Department of Labor's OSHA laws and regulations
  • Previous experience in demolition and re-construction
  • Excellent logistical, decision making and problem solving skills
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment (skid steers, cranes, etc.) and lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skill, motivational and leadership skills
  • Must be able to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and effectively multi-task
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend; excellent manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
  • Familiar with industry standard inventory and transportation applications
  • Ability to travel on short notice
  • Must have valid driver’s license and excellent driving record
  • Forklift certification
  • Class "B" CDL
  • Commercial Crane Operation License, preferred
  • ASE Certification, preferred
